Riding Without Helmets

On a road trip last week from N Cal to Arizona.
Spring weather rapidly turning into summer. Hot.

I was amazed at the amount of riders in AZ and UT riding without helmets.

Apart from the safety, which many might argue - it must be really uncomfortable and tiring - specially on long runs.

And then there's the safety.

As far as know no Motorcycle Insurance Company penalizes or restricts coverage to those riders protecting their heads.

It seems clear to me a rider without a helmet is much more likely to be injured in any kind of wreck.

To my mind that means, those of us who wear helmets are subsidizing those who don't.

Someone must have studied this somewhere.....
